Tap, Toilet, Shower & Basin Repairs and Replacements

Most tap, toilet and shower faults are wear in a small part — a ceramic cartridge, a washer, a fill or flush valve, or a perished seal. Replacing the part is usually cheaper than replacing the fitting, and can normally be done in a single visit.

Plumber tightening a copper pipe joint beneath a bathroom basin

These are the jobs people put off, and the ones that quietly cost money. A running toilet can waste hundreds of litres a day, and on a metered supply that shows up on the bill long before anyone notices the noise.

We carry common cartridges, valves and seals, so most of these visits are finished the same day rather than turning into a parts order.

What's included

  • Dripping and stiff taps — cartridges, washers and full replacements
  • Running or non-flushing toilets, fill valves and flush mechanisms
  • Leaking cisterns, pan connectors and waste traps
  • Shower valves, thermostatic cartridges and shower waste
  • New basins, sinks, taps and toilets fitted
  • Washing machine and dishwasher plumbing

Common jobs

  • Tap that drips constantly or squeals when turned
  • Toilet that runs into the pan after flushing
  • Water on the floor around the base of the WC
  • Shower that runs hot then cold
  • Weak flow from one outlet only
  • Smell from a basin or kitchen waste

How the job runs

  1. 1

    Inspect

Identify the failed component rather than condemning the whole fitting.

  2. 2

    Quote

Price the repair and, where relevant, the replacement, so you can choose.

  3. 3

    Fit

Replace the part or fitting and check for movement and leaks.

  4. 4

    Test

Run the fitting under pressure and check the waste flows away.

What it costs

Small repairs are charged as a call-out that includes the first hour on site — £99 standard hours (8am–6pm), £129 evenings (6pm–10pm) and Saturdays, £169 nights (10pm–8am), £149 Sundays and £199 bank holidays — with any further time at £95 per hour, plus parts. Replacing a full suite or several fittings is better quoted as a job — send photos and we will price it.
